The last few weekends have been peppered with severe snowstorms here in the Midwest. Big snowstorms. The kind that, as a kid of five or six, would leave me thrilled at the prospect of sledding and snow days and, as a kid of twelve or thirteen, would leave me furious that mom or dad wouldn't drive me to a friend's house or to the movie theater because, well, they feared for our lives and I didn't see that as being reason enough to thwart my plans.
Now, as I sit inside and watch the snow come down, down, down (and also watch the poor soul outside who turned their car onto the sidewalk thinking it was the road) I am more than able to appreciate my parents' position on the whole driving thing.
Happy snow day everyone!
